OFF - SEASON by Adrian Bagley

This project OFF-SEASON is somthing i just needed to do.

When i started this body of work i was focusing on life lived by the ocean during our harsh winter months and i had no idea where it would lead me.

The birds were what captivated me more than anything. The birds that remain over winter, seeming to embody a complex range of human emotions. Most of the time no one seems to even notice them in the background of their lives.

Through their behaviour, and my photography, i stared to see an impressionistic narrative of loss, resilience, and the passing of time, it was as though they were a reflection of the human experience, always in motion, always searching for connection with others, but often alone.

I admired their graceful yet transient nature and saw moments of longing, retreat, and quiet turmoil, mirroring our own struggles in life.

Yes it may be grey, wet and moody but this is the genuine Cornwall, one i love and have embraced for 25 years. The emptiness, fragmentation and authentic scenes that surround me everyday may to some look one sided but this is real life here. Just because it does not look beautiful does not mean that the beauty is not there.

I have documented a slice of modern-day Cornwall with the parallels of avian life, showing the perseverance and vulnerability of all things.

I hope you enjoy.

Joe's pond by Adrian Bagley

It’s a long time since i have updated this. I have been taking a huge amount of pictures the last couple of years and working with incredibly talented people in a huge melting pot of creativity. Im finding a place where i can use my camera to convert the ideas in my head into the stories i would like to tell. I think it will be a life long journey but i am happier than ever right now and i am in love with photography more than ever. Here are a couple of shots Beautiful crisp Sunday morning just gone. Not many waves but great company.

It started as one of those days where I was standing in one of the worst downpours I can remember. I hadn’t even made it down to the beach and I had to take cover under the surf centre as my waterproof jacket was already soaked through.

I was busy drying my lens when I noticed a spay of water in the distance, the kind only a professional surfer makes. So instead of running back to the car as soon as the squall let up I ran down to the shoreline. Sure enough Alan Stokes was making the most of the huge lumps and crowd free walls of water showing up some crazy shapes.

As much as I don’t like standing face on to the ocean, sinking in the sand with the storm surge trying to suck me into the shipping lanes every few seconds, watching some big messy ramps with one of the best surfers I know makes every second worthwhile.

Saw some bluefin tuna boiling too!!!!

Hope you like?
